EFL League Two: Newport County v Port Vale

NEWPORT County will host Port Vale in their first game back in League Two since the international break.
Top of the table County will want to get back in the swing of things after a short break due to players being involved with the international games.
The Exiles manager Mike Flynn told the press how important the break was for his players.
“With the number of games in a short space of time, I thought it was vital that we took the chance of a break. I didn’t want to be going in the game missing the four internationals. We had an injury list slowly creeping up and hopefully, there’ll be a lot of good news on the injury front tomorrow.
“That’s why it was important. We’ve got an important period ahead of us, we’ve got a real opportunity now in the next six weeks. I think it’s seven or eight out of 11 home games, so we’ve got to take advantage of that.”
Newport’s last league game saw them lose – only their second defeat of the season away to Carlisle, despite their late fightback.
“I already had the response in the Carlisle game the way they finished the game. It wasn’t good enough overall, we know that but you know they’re a good team they’ll upset a few, they’ll be there or thereabout so they’ll want to keep everyone fit.”
Visitors Port Vale will want to get their season back on track after losing their last two games in the international window while Newport had a break.
Port Vale will be going into this game as underdogs as they currently sit eighth in the table and also, don’t have the best record against Newport as they haven’t beaten them in the last six games.
“Port Vale are going to be hurting. I watched a lot of their game on Saturday where they were very good when they were leading 2-0. The sending off cost them, but they’ll be there or there about Port Vale. They’re a solid squad, they’ve got good players, they’ve got players who know the league and I think John (Askey) has done a very good job there.”
Mike Flynn was awarded manager of the month for October after his team’s good start to the season.
“I’d rather the one at the end of the season if I’m totally honest, you know it’s a team effort it’s not just about me.
“You get in a position where you do get a little bit of the praise when you win, you also get the flack when you lose but they know we win and lose together.”
Newport will be hoping to boost their matchday squad as Flynn expects some returning faces from injury. Flynn will also be able to pick Scott Twine after he was unable to play in the last game in the FA cup.
Flynn will also have Welsh internationals Tom King and Josh Sheehan and Wales Under 21 Brandon Cooper and Aaron Lewis all back fit and ready to go for their upcoming game.
Out of the four Welsh internationals Josh Sheehan had the main spotlight on him as he made his first senior debut for Wales against the United States
“I’m absolutely made up for him. He’s a fantastic lad great professional, talented footballer, family man. I couldn’t be happier for somebody to get an international cap than I am for Josh.”
